چکیده
Abstract This paper discusses set visualisations with concept lattices in the sense of Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) contrast to Euler diagrams. Both types have advantages and disadvantages. Because connection between both fields body knowledge that exists it is interest investigate whether results from either field can contribute other.

Confluent Hasse Diagrams
We show that a transitively reduced digraph has a confluent upward drawing if and only if its reachability relation has order dimension at most two. In this case, we construct a confluent upward drawing with O(n2) features, in an O(n)×O(n) grid in O(n2) time. For the digraphs representing series-parallel partial orders we show how to construct a drawing with O(n) features in an O(n)×O(n) grid i...
متن کاملVisualizing set relations and cardinalities using Venn and Euler diagrams
In medicine, genetics, criminology and various other areas, Venn and Euler diagrams are used to visualize data set relations and their cardinalities. The data sets are represented by closed curves and the data set relationships are depicted by the overlaps between these curves. Both the sets and their intersections are easily visible as the closed curves are preattentively processed and form co...

1 Track Record This is a collaborative proposal between the Universities of Kent and Brighton. The team is ideally positioned to carry out the proposed programme of research, bringing together leading researchers in layout, visual tools for diagrams and diagrammatic reasoning. The investigators have current experience of collaborating on the EPSRC grant “Reasoning with Diagrams” [GR/R63509, GR/...
متن کاملEuler diagrams as an introduction to set-theoretical models
Understanding the notion of a model is not always easy in logic courses. Hence, tools such as Euler diagrams are frequently applied as informal illustrations of set-theoretical models. We formally investigate Euler diagrams as an introduction to set-theoretical models. We show that the model-theoretic notions of validity and invalidity are characterized by Euler diagrams, and, in particular, th...
متن کاملVisualizing Concepts with Euler Diagrams
An ontology comprises a set of statements (called axioms) that capture properties of individuals, concepts and roles. Individuals represent particular elements of the modelled domain, with concepts and roles corresponding to classes and binary relations, respectively. The primary (formal) notations for ontology modelling are symbolic, such as description logics (DLs) or OWL. To aid with accessi...
